Target Audience
One of my favorite parts of working at Parkway is helping new homeowners. In this neighborhood, these people have not only purchased a home, they have purchased a list of projects. Yes, I guess you can say they purchased a dream- but my skills and passions lie in the list of projects they have purchased. Sometimes, they purchased a list of projects with eyes wide open. Sometimes they didn’t really know how many projects they purchased. Sometimes they realized that the list of projects they purchased will be with them until they sell the house or die. Sometimes they thought they just had a few things to do and their house will be perfect.
They are usually young. They are often exited about their list of projects. They might be a little nervous about taking these things on. Maybe they are under-tooled or a little short on know how. But they almost always make up for those deficiencies with enthusiasm and energy. I love helping those people get over that edge.
For example…
A young woman just came in and is having trouble with volunteer maple trees. Her house was either a foreclosure or simply left to rot for the last few years and some objectionable trees were taking root. You might call them suckers, volunteers, baby maples (or whatever type of deciduous plant you might have). We walked around at looked at rental hand held mattocks, a mattocks for purchase and some chemical options. We had a great discussion, she found something she thought was worth a shot, and I believe she left satisfied with her shopping experience.
I absolutely love it when customers ask questions! Sometimes its hard when we are busy, to wait to ask the questions, but I think its worth the wait. I believe that if you ask we can help you find the product, tool or knowledge that you need to get your project done in a timely manner. The more time spent wandering around, or going back and forth to the store, makes more room for frustration and dissatisfaction.
I can say that most of the time I truly enjoy helping customers solve their problem. Thats why I think customers come here. We can, most of the time, help our customers find a solution to their problem, so they can move on with their day. The less discouraged you are about your home repair experience, the more likely you are to keep doing your own home repairs. Therefore, you might just come back here more often.
Mice
| Many people have been coming the last couple days complaining about mice.
While it seems too early for the little critters to be moving we are ready. |
| While many have tried to improve it there are few things that work as well as the snap trap.
|
| Poison is also an option for those without kids or pets.
|
| Many people report good results with the ultra sonic rodent repellent |
Hose Repair
A customer was in yesterday and had run over the end of his garden hose with his car. He had used a clinch on repair end many years ago and remembered it not being very easy to put on. I showed him an new end we are carrying from Gilmour with an impact resistant clamp design. I have used repair ends like this in the past and found them to be easy and while I don’t know what kind of car he drives these ends are very sturdy.
